A £300k contract delivered over 9 months: the house was taken back to bare walls and rebuilt throughout with a completely reworked internal layout — no extension, just a total renovation of the existing footprint.
The brief
Reimagine a traditional sandstone home in North Berwick from the inside out: strip it back, change the layout to suit modern family life, and refit every room to a high contemporary standard while respecting the character of the building.
Our approach
MJM managed the whole renovation as one team — strip-out, structural and layout changes, joinery and every finish — keeping the programme coordinated across all trades over the 9-month build.
Construction
The house was stripped back to bare walls and the internal layout reconfigured. Bespoke joinery runs through the whole home — slatted oak wall panelling, a crafted oak staircase with a sculpted, LED-lit handrail, and a full-height oak kitchen — alongside a complete refit of bathrooms, flooring and finishes.
The result
A completely renewed home: a reworked layout that flows properly, a light-filled stairwell crowned by a frameless rooflight against the original stone, and bespoke oak joinery giving every room a calm, crafted feel.
